Taiwan Part 2

The next morning we were driven along the shore of Sun Moon lake and we stopped off at Xiangshan Visitor Center. We took a small hike out to the lake. One can’t help but be in awe over this gorgeous lake!

Later in the day we passed numerous farms growing the exotic dragon fruit. It was so interesting to see these perfectly planted rows of plants, that are a type of cactus.

We stopped at the amazing Jiji Wuchang Temple.

Part of what is so fascinating about this temple is when it collapsed in an earthquake in 1999, the roof basically stayed intact.  Can you believe nobody was hurt during the earthquake after seeing this temple that fell down like toy building blocks.

Our next stop was the enchanting Fo Guang Shan Monastery.

This was a beautiful monastery on top of a mountain.

The grounds were so pleasant and peaceful. We really enjoyed walking around this monastery.

Our next stop was a ride on this electric boat, on the Love River. At one time this river was very polluted with industrial waste and raw sewage. The river has been cleaned up and it is a popular destination for tourist and local people.

Our last stop was the fascinating Liuhe Night Market.

What’s for dinner?

Then it was time to check into our room at the elegant Hotel-Grand Hi-Lai.

We were so very lucky to be given the room on the corner of the building and have two fantastic views. This is one of the views from our room of the Love River.
