If you want to take the public bus from the Xi’an Train Station, not to be confused with the Xi’an North Train Station, to the Terracotta Soldiers, it is easy and very inexpensive.
- Stand out in front of the train station.
2. Turn to the right and walk past this building.
3. You will see lots of buses. Look for this sign and get on their bus.
4. After the bus starts moving a man will come around and collect the bus fare, 7 RMB ($1.04), one way. The bus ride takes about 50 minutes and the Terracotta Soldiers are the last stop.
5. When you want to return to Xi’an, go to the parking lot where you were left off. If the #5 bus is not parked there just wait. Again after you get on the bus someone will come around and collect the 7 RMB.
One good thing about taking this bus was that we could decide what time we wanted to leave Xi’an and arrive at the Terracotta Soldiers. We left Xi’an at 7:40 am and arrived at the Terracotta Soldiers before most of the tourist groups arrived.
We figured it cost 150 RMB or $24.44 per person for the entrance fee and bus.
Our hotel offered a tour and their price was 350 RMB or $52.17 per person.
